Relaxation Massage, also known as Swedish Massage, is a head-to-toe massage that employs a variety of massage strokes designed to assist you in reducing stress and in relaxing your body and mind. Many clients leave a relaxation massage feeling relaxed, yet invigorated.
Deep Tissue/Neuromuscular Massage
The use of Deep Tissue massage is two-fold: First, it is used for those individuals wanting a relaxation massage but with very firm pressure. Second, it is used in conjuction with neuromuscular techniques to treat specific medical conditions and pain. Conditions such as tennis elbow and TMJ dysfunction are routinely treated using neuromuscular techniques. Common ailments, including headaches, stiff necks, backaches and shoulder problems often respond well to neuromuscular therapy.
Chair/On-site Massage
Chair massage utilizes a specially designed, adjustable chair. It is frequently done at client's facility though the portble nature of the chair makes chair massage possible almost anywhere. It is used by businesses as a stress-relieving or thank you perk for employees, at conferences, even at parties. Chair massage is performed with the client fully clothed and works well for those wanting work on the neck, shoulders, back, arms or hands.
While the term on-site massage generally refers to chair massage, if a facility has the capability to provide the space and privacy, regular table massage, such as swedish relaxation massage may also be done 'on-site'. This is a great convenience for busy executives.
Oncology Massage
Individuals living with cancer or who have a history of cancer have special massage needs. For example, adaptations may be required due to lymph node involvement or matastasis to the bones. Possible side effects of cancer drugs like tamoxafin, must be taken into consideration.
Anxiety, depression, fatigue, nausea, and pain are common complaints of those with cancer. Studies indicate that these may be alieviated or lessened through the use of massage. Those undergoing chemotherapy may find it benefitial to get a massage just prior to treatments.
And don't forget the patient's family Cancer or any serious illness affects the entire family. Added responsibilities, stress, anxiety, fear, burning the candle at both ends, all can have an effect on the health and well-being of family members. When family members get massage, it gives them chance to relax, away from stress and responsibility. It is a time just for them, a time when they are the center of attention.
Scar Tissue Massage
Scar tissue, especially burn scar tissue, can have a profound impact on an individual's life. The scar tissue may affect range of motion, grow well beyond the wound site to effect adjoining areas, and, of course, be extremely unpleasant looking. Scar tissue massage has been known to increase the suppleness of scar tissue, reduce its redness, help release adhesions (places where scar tissue attached itself to surrounding tissue), and increase range of motion. Massage can be extremely effective on keloid scaring and contractures.
